Electric Arc Welding Technology: Guide to vertical welding
VERTICAL WELDING CHARACTERISTICS
Due to the impact of gravity, the molten metal is easy to be out of the weld pool, the weld pool is located on the vertical plane so the weld in the standing position is difficult to form. Standing welds are prone to defects such as lumps and sagging. Bottom-up welding make the weld less slag. It is relatively difficult for the craftsman to work in places where the weld is placed at low height. In this condition the molten metal is likely to fall down. So be careful!
STANDING WELDING METHOD
It is possible to use welding rods with relatively thick coatings, whose diameter less than 4mm.
Standing welding current: Less than 10 to 15% than welding. For example:The current is 200A in welding, stand welding with the same material you should set the level to 175 is 185.
Welding direction:
Bottom-up welding for thick sheets, top-down welding for thin sheets as well as weld lengths not too large (using thin-layer rods)
Horizontal displacement: linear, serrated, semicircular, triangular (with angular welds and bevelled edges) are recommended. It should use short arc to weld. When you move the arc to two edges, it is neccesary to stop a bit, which reduces the risk of fire edge.

The arc welding method: Arc welding creates a welding pool. Prolong the arc up. Shortening the arc to create a new welding pool.
The method of disconnecting the arc is the same, except the step 2 by turning off the arc.
The method of jumping arc welding
This type of welding is like welding dots or stick welding. You allow the arc to spray continuously but spray intermittently to properly match a weld.

Some notes on welding direction
Welding direction: bottom-up with thick sheets, top-down with thin sheets and weld length is not large (use thin-layer rods). In the welding process, when the arc flows run out, you pay attention to the amount of arc to go fast or slow in hand movement so that the arc can be consistent and creat good welding. In the welding process, there will be a slight pull phenomenon, this operation must be practice frequently
